Activity Tours & Field Trips

Tuesday, June 17 - Activity Tours - 9:00am - 11:30am

Registrants may choose one of the following activity tour options. Transportation provided.

"A" - National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum – Located atop Persimmon Hill in east Oklahoma City, the “Cowboy Hall” (as it is locally known) features one of the most distinguished collections of western art in the world, including significant works by master artists such as Charles Russell, Frederic Remington and Albert Bierstadt. Also included are numerous historical exhibits that tell America’s story as it unfolds across the West, from Prosperity Junction, a 14,000-square-foot Western cattle town, and the children's Cowboy Corral, to the gallery of Fine American Firearms and the Hall of Great Western Performers.
"B" - Oklahoma City Museum of Art – Located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, the Museum of Art offers visitors fine works of art on three floors, including “Dale Chihuly: The Exhibition,” the most comprehensive collection of Chihuly glass in the world. Featuring traveling exhibitions as well as displays from its permanent collection, the museum offers self-guided family tour backpacks filled with games and activities to encourage an interactive exploration of the galleries, as well as Museum School art classes and screenings of classic and art house films.
"C" - Oklahoma National Stockyards – Home of the world’s largest stocker and feeder cattle market, more than 100 million cattle have passed through the gates of Stockyards City since 1910. There are live cattle auctions every Monday and Tuesday throughout the year, and Stockyard City’s main street offers plenty of shopping in authentic handcrafted boots, hats, spurs, saddles and the latest in western clothing. While you’re there, don’t miss Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, established in 1910 and a favorite Oklahoma City stop for the likes of Gene Autry, John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, and then-President George H.W. Bush.
